Phase 1 of the Newberg-Dundee Bypass is a four-mile expressway that will extend from OR 219 in Newberg to OR 99W south of Dundee, with one travel lane in each direction. It is expected to open in 2017.
Key project information
- The only connection points to the new bypass will be at two new signalized intersections at OR 99W just south of Dundee and OR 219 in Newberg.
- Funding for the current project (Phase 1) is coming from the Oregon Legislature’s Jobs and Transportation Act, the federal government and contributions by Yamhill County, the cities of Newberg, Dundee and McMinnville, and the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde.
- The project is being built under several contracts to complete it within a shorter time frame. Wildish Standard Paving is building the Newberg portion of the Bypass (OR 219 to Chehalem Creek). Hamilton Construction is building the portion of the Bypass near Dundee (OR 99W to Chehalem Creek). Improvements on Springbrook Road, OR 219 and OR 99W in Newberg are also in the design phase but not yet under contract.
- The full 11-mile bypass is planned to be a four-lane expressway, two lanes in each direction, from Dayton to just east of Newberg (view full bypass map - PDF, 3.3MB). Future phases have not been funded or scheduled.
